Earths day

I think I am not the only one, who feels like the days are just passing by, indistinguishably since the beginning of the quarantine, and have no idea most of the time what day is it, or what the date is, but today, the 22nd of April is a special day and we all should take a moment to appreciate it.

Why is it so special you ask?

It’s the 50th  anniversary of Earth Day, the annual celebration of the environmental movement.

In 1970, according to EarthDay.org, about 20 million Americans, 10% of the population back then, assembled to demand greater attention to the protection of the planet. Since then, activists around the world have gathered each year to mark the day.

Of course this year is different, all gatherings are cancelled, but this doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate from the safety and comfort of our homes.

So take a moment to appreciate the beauty of our planet, and choose one of the many activities listed below to take part in the celebration.

Here are my suggestions:

Here you can find a range of activists, along with entertainment and political celebrities, who  will offer discussions, performances, teach-ins, and suggestions for action on the office website of the Earth Day movement. This will take place for 24 hours. Participants include Pope Francis, Steve Ballmer, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Dave Matthews.

And here you can see how NASA helps study and protect the land, air, water, and ice. Then see how much you’ve learned in a fun, interactive quiz.

I hope you will find something you like among theese activities, and you will have a nice day, stay home, stay safe.
